It's a pleasure to meet you! My name is Ron Janssen Tarriela, but most people call me Jans, or know me by "Honz". I have recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Information Science & Technology from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. My time at Temple has given me the space to discover my passion for technological design, teamwork, and the importance of artistic creativity in today's tech landscape.
My coursework has allowed me to advance in a variety of technical skills in software development and research. At the same time, my work history has given me unorthodox/non-traditional experiences that have enabled me to apply my skills in multifaceted areas.
I have been familiar with adaptability and finding creativity in unlikely places for as long as I can remember. I'm interested in any and all roles that have even the smallest opportunity for me to locate an intersection between creative artistry/visionary— what a real mind would want— and technology.

Intersecting technology with business and off-price retail, I drove store + chain merchandise financial results while using the forecasting process to capitalize on future business opportunities.
My time at Burlington allowed me to work in all areas of the business, including the planning, allocations, and chain merchandise teams. I also worked closely with the buyers, traveling to New York City to work with all areas of the business and devise a forecasting / financial report with my planning & buying team.

Easily the most unique experience here, Temple UHRL taught me to swim, rather than sink, when it came to large group leadership, event planning/management, conflict mediation, and on-call emergency connection.
Being the RA with the most residents campus wide with nearly 70 each year served as extreme motivation to not only tend to the diverse needs of every individual, but also to plan out events and build a community that was strong, interactive, and lasted. Meaningful connections were made while university policy was enforced, all while working alongside a competitive team of my peers and supervisors.

Education & Leadership
Attending Temple University will always be one of the most transformative experiences of my entire life. Coming from a small town in the middle of nowhere in New Jersey, and going to a massive public institution located directly in one of the largest cities in the country was a drastic change that taught me a lot about community, perseverance, leadership, and a real sense of independence.
I had the honor of being on the Dean's list, being a Dean's Scholarship recipient, and even being one of the very first student speakers at Temple's official Honors Senior Ceremony. My time as part of the honors program (and soon to be honors college) has taught me a great deal inclusive community and intellectual curiosity, while my courses prepared my skills in programming, networking, and web technologies.

I had the privilege of being part of an incredibly active executive board team focused on creating a space to share and celebrate Filipino culture. This was done through hosting interactive social events, performances, and networking opportunities with alumni and other Filipino organizations in the area.
As treasurer, I handled the organization's funds, budgets, reimbursements, and everything to do with money. I worked closely with the team to generate a revenue of over $3,000 from fundraisers and events, leaving the organization with more money than what we had initially.

As fundraising head, I lead money-raising efforts and generated hundreds of dollars in revenue for the group. As PR Head, I was in charge of connections to other organizations, keeping up with OwlCappella's social media network, and designing/curating posts for the group and to reach out to others. As Vice President, I assisted the President in any way I could, scheduling photoshoots, bonding events, and keeping track of member attendance.
