On my Spotify Wrapped, every year, I regularly log over 150,000 minutes of music.
Live concerts, Acappella, Competition, Perfect Pitch— music defines and lives within my heart, soul, and life, even if unrelated to my studies.
I could not imagine my life without music. Music discussion, pop culture around music, a singular song or a live performance that moves me have been just a few of my main sources of entertainment for as long as I could start walking.

One part of myself that I feel as though I never lost sight of was the connection to my culture. I take great pride in my Filipino heritage. In recent years especially, I have gotten great joy out of supporting my community and watching that community grow and thrive. Repeated long-term stays in the Philippines have kept me appreciative and well-immersed in my culture, despite growing up in America.

Repeated long-term stays in the Philippines have kept me appreciative and well-immersed in my culture, despite
growing up in America. Years of experience has made me learn to celebrate my people and the rich history surrounding the Philippines, whether that presents itself in the food I make with love, the organizations I stay in touch with, or the contributions I make when I go back to the motherland. Being Filipino is huge part of my identity, and I would not trade that part of myself for the world. Filipinos are known as "the people of the sun", and the culture I am connected to makes me happy to know such radiant stars.

And finally, something that I have taken great interest in is journaling and the art of writing. I've been writing about anything from my life experiences to on the Substack (which you should totally check out, below, by th eway) or writing a complicated review of a simple coffee shop over on Beli. I find myself haing a multitude of thoughts many times, and I get relief out of being able to materialize some of these thoughts in the way that I articulate myself through text. Like food and fashion, my writing is a form of artistic expression, too.

My love for hosting and participating allows me to bring life into the communities and circles I connect myself to. I've found that potlucks, watch parties, and gatherings in general have enabled me to foster a community worth sharing, which brings me great joy in life. I either seek out a good time, or provide it myself.

Whether it's cooking food or trying new food spots in/out of the city, food has always been a major component of my life. Drinks included.
